Ware ready to get to work after signing extension

The Dallas Cowboys called a special news conference Monday afternoon, announcing the long-awaited signing of LB DeMarcus Ware to a contract extension. The team didn’t release details of the deal, but NFL Network insider¬†Jason La Canfora reports that Ware received a six-year extension with $40 million guaranteed. The Cowboys’ official blog reports the deal is believed to carry an overall value of $78 million.

Ware took the stage with his wife, his agent, Patrick Dye, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and COO Stephen Jones. Jerry Jones said he shook hands with Ware on the contract before Sunday’s win over the Atlanta Falcons, and finished signing the deal earlier Monday.

“For me, now, it’s time to really get to work,” Ware said. “All this is behind me now. It’s time to get to work, and you know what it’s time to bring home. I’m not going to say what it is.¬†I’m just going to show you.”
