It could be a better-than-expected debut for 49ers rookie WR Michael Crabtree. He displayed good hands and stamina in practice this week, according to sources, surprising some veterans.
Crabtree was a standout in 11-on-11 drills and often was featured in practice, targeted on every other play at times. Crabtree showed a good knowledge of certain parts of the offense as he comes along and will be given a chance to spark this passing attack, players believe.
Crabtree started against the Texans, as the 49ers opened in a three-receiver set. The 49ers attempted to go to Crabtree on their first play from scrimmage, but Texans DE Mario Williams sacked QB Shaun Hill.
