Chiefs ship DT Tyler to Panthers

The Chiefs’ Web site reports that the team has traded DT Tank Tyler to the Panthers for an undisclosed 2010 draft pick.

The Panthers have searched for defensive tackle help all season after Maake Kemoeatu and Louis Leonard both suffered season-ending injuries.. The team picked up Hollis Thomas off waivers two weeks ago, and he has two tackles in two games.

Tyler, a third-year pro, started all 16 games for the Chiefs last season, and he has played in all six games thus far in 2009. He has 74 tackles and no sacks in his NFL career.

NFL teams have until 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday to complete trades.
