Teams light up Browns’ phone to ask about Cribbs

Josh Cribbs, the Browns’ Pro Bowl return man, has drawn significant interest from other teams, including the Dolphins, Colts, Chiefs, Raiders, Jaguars and 49ers, according to a league source.
The Browns’ lack of success and Cribbs’ ongoing attempts to rework his contract, coupled with his game-changing ability and productivity at multiple positions (including as a Wildcat quarterback), have led several teams to call Cleveland to inquire about his availability. However, the Browns haven’t shown any inclination to trade him. He’s someone the team plans to build around as one of the few explosive offensive talents on its roster.
Calls likely will continue to come as Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline approaches, but unless someone makes an offer that blows the Browns away, I’d be surprised if a deal is made. The Browns continue to have discussions with Cribbs’ representatives about a new contract, but little progress has been made since the preseason.
