In my Tuesday blog, I talked about how Saints RB Pierre Thomas could be in danger of losing at least some of the workload to RB Mike Bell this week.

Well, it could be more than we thought.

Thomas was limited in Wednesday’s practice with an injured ankle. Considering the fact that the Saints are coming off a bye, this is a little worrisome.

Bell, who has missed time with an injured knee, was able to return to a full practice and looks set to go against the Giants.

Part of the reason there have been reports about a shared backfield is that there have been questions about Thomas’ durability. He’s already missed a few games this season with a knee problem, and now this new ankle ailment has surfaced.

If you’re a Thomas owner, it’s time to pick up Bell off the waiver wire as insurance.

He’s a free agent in close to 60 percent of NFL.com leagues.
