The Steelers appear one step closer to having two of their key playmakers back on the field.
Coach Mike Tomlin said today that RB Willie Parker and SS Troy Polamalu would return to practice without limitations Wednesday as they make their way back from injuries.
Their status for Sunday’s game against the Browns will be determined later in the week, Tomlin said, so Parker and Polamalu will be considered day to day.
“It will really be interesting to see how they respond after getting work on Wednesday,” Tomlin said.
Parker has missed the last two games with a turf toe injury. Polamalu, who suffered a torn left knee ligament in the season opener, returned to practice on a limited basis last week. The Steelers’ plan was to have him return this week.
Tomlin also said during his news conference that DE Aaron Smith suffered a “significant” shoulder injury in last Sunday’s victory over the Lions.
