Cowboys deactivate Barber against Panthers

Dallas Cowboys RB Marion Barber was declared inactive for Monday’s game against the Carolina Panthers due to a left thigh injury that has limited him in practice. Backup RB Felix Jones started in Barber’s place.
Barber, who was officially listed as questionable, was injured in last week’s loss to the Giants. Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said late last week that Barber would need to be healthy enough to play full time or he would be held out.
No other surprises among the inactives for Dallas: S Michael Hamlin, LB Jason Williams, OG Montrae Holland, C Duke Preston, OT Pat McQuistan and WR Kevin Ogletree. Stephen McGee is listed as the No. 3 QB.
As expected, Panthers starting LB Na’il Diggs was inactive with bruised ribs — he had been ruled out by the coaching staff after missing three consecutive practices. Two other starters — FB Brad Hoover (back) and S Chris Harris (knee) — also sat after being listed as doubtful.
The rest of the Panthers inactives: RB Tyrell Sutton, OT Garry Williams, DE Everette Brown and OG Duke Robinson. A.J. Feeley is the No. 3 QB.
