Chiefs could be ready to activate WR Long

The Chiefs could be making some personnel changes following an offensively dreadful performance Sunday in a 34-14 loss to the Eagles. WR Lance Long could be activated off the practice squad and onto the active roster before this week’s game against the Giants according to a team source.
The Chiefs acquired Long two weeks ago and he is highly regarded by coach Todd Haley.
Haley worked with Long last season in Arizona, where Haley was the offensive coordinator. Long made the team as an undrafted free agent from Mississippi State. Haley thought so highly of the diminutive Long that the Chiefs actually discussed trading a seventh-round pick to the Cardinals for Long during the preseason — an offer that was rebuffed, according to the source.
Long eventually made Arizona’s 53-man roster and played in the season-opening loss to San Francisco, but was waived after the game. Long was one of five players profiled by NFL.com during training camp in our On the Fringe Series.
