Dolphins QB Chad Pennington was knocked out of Sunday’s game against the Chargers with a right shoulder injury and didn’t return.
Pennington was injured on the Dolphins’ first drive of the second half when he was thrown to the ground after an incomplete pass. He got up slowly, holding his right arm and wrist, before heading to the sidelines. Once off the field, Pennington took off his helmet and shoulder pads and put ice on the shoulder.
There has been no official announcement from the Dolphins on the injury. Chad Henne, who was listed as the Dolphins’ No. 3 QB, replaced Pennington, who was 8-of-12 passing for 54 yards before he left the game.
