New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton joined The Head Coaches show Monday to discuss his team’s 2-0 start, new defensive coordaintor Gregg Williams and the game of QB Drew Brees with analysts Steve Mariucci and Mike Martz.
Brees has been on a torrid start this season with 9 TD passes — tying him with Charley Johnson (1965) for the most in the NFL through the 1st two games of a season since 1950. Payton told the coaches that Brees’ performance — which Martz dissected last week — is set apart by his athleticism, decision-making process and his work ethic.
“His ability to decide and deliver is faster than anyone,” Payton said. “He processes the information he sees, ball comes out, the location and accuraccy is fantastic.
“He handles a great volume of offense. We carry a lot in each game. He digests it, and gets it all taken care of on the field. It’s amazing to watch him play.”
