Seattle Seahawks coach Jim Mora said Monday injured QB Matt Hasselbeck has a fractured rib, but called it premature to discuss his status for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.
“He seems to be doing a lot better today, certainly than he was yesterday,” Mora said. “So we’ll take it day by day. He’s a tough guy. We’ll see where he is as we go through this week.”
Mora refused to discuss the chances of Hasselbeck playing this weekend, calling it “pure speculation on my part.” He didn’t seem to indicate it would be necessary for Hasselbeck to practice this week in order to play Sunday. Backup QB Seneca Wallace, the expected starter if Hasselbeck can’t play, completed 15 of 23 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in relief of Hasselbeck against the 49ers.
Mora also said OT Sean Locklear (ankle sprain), FB Justin Griffith (MCL sprain) and CB Josh Wilson (ankle sprain) were injured against the 49ers but the coach didn’t have an update on their status for this week.
