ARLINGTON, Texas — The official opening of Cowboys Stadium is overshadowing the actual game between the Giants and Cowboys tonight. I’ve even been taken back by the grandeur of it all.
- Former President George W. Bush passed by in a mini-motorcade — and the windows weren’t tinted. I got a good glimpse of the former president.
- At 5:20 p.m., the process of opening the retractable roof commenced, and the tens of thousands of folks already inside went nuts.
- How about this? There are five security guards, dressed in black suits, guarding the Cowboys star at midfield. Even the players who are warming up have to stay away from the logo, which will be unveiled before kickoff.
- Lastly, one of the largest rounds of applause came when NFL Network’s Rich Eisen and musician-actor Billy Bob Thornton came on the massive video board. Now that’s star power.
