Tyree taking physical with St. Louis

Former Super Bowl hero David Tyree is taking a physical with the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday afternoon and could be signed by the receiver-needy team by late in the day, a source close to Tyree said.
Tyree, who also has drawn the interest of the Ravens and, more recently, Jacksonville, has a solid relationship with Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo, who served as the Giants defensive coordinator before taking the Rams’ job last winter.
St. Louis is trying to upgrade at receiver and on special teams, where Tyree has earned Pro Bowl honors in 2005. Tyree was released by the Giants two weeks ago after failing to crack a unit stacked with youth and depth.
Tyree hasn’t played in a regular season game since making one of the most spectacular plays in Super Bowl history in New York’s victory over New England in Super Bowl XLII. He missed last season with knee and hamstring injuries and battled hamstring and groin injuries this preseason.
