Fantasy owners worried about the status of WR Wes Welker for tonight’s game against the Bills should worry no longer — the veteran wideout is active and seems safe to use. As expected, QB Tom Brady is also active and will start.
In other news, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed QB Jeff Garcia. With QB Donovan McNabb’s status in question for this week’s game against the Saints, Garcia could be in line to start ahead of Kevin Kolb. He knows the offense from an earlier stint with the team and is a far better starting choice, both on the field and in fantasy circles.
If McNabb is forced out of action and Garcia starts ahead of Kolb, it makes the Philadelphia receivers more attractive fantasy options.
The Panthers are also poised to sign a new quarterback, former Eagles QB A.J. Feeley.
QB Josh McCown was placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the season, and Jake Delhomme’s poor play could spark a quarterback battle in the weeks to come.
Feeley has never been a great fantasy option, however, so owners need to hope for an improvement in Delhomme’s play for no other reason than to help WR Steve Smith meet his statistical potential.
