Giants rookie WR Hakeem Nicks left today’s game against the Redskins during the fourth quarter with an apparent foot injury.
Hicks was injured during a 7-yard reception when Redskins LB London Fletcher fell on the receiver’s left leg. Trainers checked on Hicks, a first-round draft pick out of North Carolina, on the sideline before he was carted off the field.
The FOX game broadcast reports that Hicks suffered a sprained left foot and X-rays were negative. Hicks later returned to the sideline and used crutches while wearing a walking boot on his lower left leg.
We’ll monitor the Giants’ postgame news conference for the official word on his injury.
Hicks had two receptions for 18 yards in his regular-season debut before leaving.
