Holmes: Steelers concerned with win, not towels

Around The League debuted today on NFL Network, and Santonio Holmes checked in with host Alex Flanagan via Steelers Cam as one of the first guests.

Flanagan spoke with the Pittsburgh wide receiver about last season’s Terrible Towel-stomping incident and the more recent comments from Tennessee RB LenDale White as Thursday’s Kickoff 2009 opener between the Titans and Steelers at Heinz Field is less than 48 hours away.

“It’s not about the towels,” Holmes said. “We play this game of football that we love. We want to get out and play those guys again because we remember what they did to us. Yeah, they stomped on the towels, and that only just brings fuel to the fire. But it doesn’t really say, ‘This is what we want to do, stomp on these guys’ towels.’ We want to go out and get a victory and move on to the next game. Regardless of what happened last year, that’s the way that they felt like they wanted to retaliate by beating us. Let those guys go out and do what they want to do.”

Catch Around The League every Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. ET on NFL Network.
