Rookie Stafford to start Sunday for Lions

Lions rookie QB Matthew Stafford, the No. 1 pick in last April’s NFL draft, will start Sunday’s season opener against the Saints, coach Jim Schwartz announced Monday after practice.

Stafford completed 30 of 55 passes in four preseason appearances with 1 TD and 4 interceptions.
