Jets get QB O’Connell in trade with Lions

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports the New York Jets have traded for Lions QB Kevin O’Connell, according to a league source.

O’Connell had been claimed on waivers after the Patriots released him last Monday.

O’Connell’s arrival gives the Jets four quarterbacks on the roster with rookie starter Mark Sanchez, veteran Kellen Clemens and Erik Ainge.

A third-round draft pick out of San Diego State last year, O’Connell completed four of his six passes for 23 yards last season.
