One day after Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said he was keeping his cuts under his hat, the team announced that it had released 21 players and placed veteran TE Sean McHugh on injured reserve.
As expected, the Steelers cut RB Isaac Redman, an undrafted rookie from Bowie State who was the star of the preseason for Pittsburgh. He scored three of the team’s five rushing touchdowns, but the Steelers likely want to put him on their practice squad.
The team also cut FB Carey Davis, who played in 30 games over the past two seasons. He had one reception for six yards in the Steelers’ Super Bowl XLIII victory.
