The Redskins announced they are placing backup QB Colt Brennan on injured reserve, the result of a nagging hamstring injury that he aggravated in a preseason game against the Jaguars on Thursday night.
NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that the Redskins plan to sign backup QB Chase Daniel to the practice squad, according to a team source. Daniel, who was signed as a rookie free agent, will be among the team’s cuts, but he impressed the coaches with his production, intellect and work ethic in the preseason.
These moves mean the Redskins likely will begin the season with just two quarterbacks — starter Jason Campbell and backup Todd Collins.
A pair of other noteworthy players released by the Redskins were offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges and linebacker Robert Thomas. Here is the full list of Redskins roster cuts.
