Hard-hitting Lions won’t get pushed around in 2009

One of the first impressions that you draw from the Lions’ training-camp practices is that this looks like a much tougher and more physical club than the one they had last year.

Kids help the kids at Lions camp

Most of the kids carrying helmets for Lions players onto the practice field at training camp are 13 or 14 years old. Then there was the 20-year-old holding the helmet of 21-year-old rookie QB Matthew Stafford.

In the land of second chances, I figure Burress will get his day as well, eventually.

Green lands with 49ers after Dolphins cut him

The 49ers have agreed to terms with CB Eric Green on a one-year contract, according to league sources, and he will sign it tomorrow, pending a physical. Green was released by the Dolphins earlier today in a somewhat surprising move because the team hadn’t signed him that long ago.

The Vikings plan to keep all four QBs for a few weeks

Former starting QB Tarvaris Jackson is likely to be shopped at some point, but the Minnesota Vikings are holding onto all four passers for now.

Five most unusual offseasons

Now that Brett Favre and Mike Vick are gainfully employed, I thought I’d reflect back on what has been another wild NFL offseason (and I’m including the events of training camp as part of the “offseason,” cause, heck, we’re not in the regular season yet).

Notes from Giants practice

New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin and offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride keep a watchful on eye on the giants’ wide receivers in practice.

The full Vick contract

Incentives and all, here it is.

Beyond the hype, Favre creates matchup nightmares

Favre signing tops Tuesday’s training camp news

The biggest news of an eventful Tuesday was Brett Favre reporting to Vikings training camp and immediately signing a two-year contract. As always, our analysts and writers wasted no time in chiming in.

Favre: ‘I didn’t want to say, ‘What if?”

The Vikings held a nearly hour-long press conference introducing new QB Brett Favre on Tuesday. Favre touched on a number of topics, including his shoulder injury, the reception from his new teammates, the criticism he has received over wavering on retirement and his expectations this season.
