A Hall of Fame green room

The inductees and their presenters have congregated in the green room offstage, where their getting a run-through of today’s ceremony. Consider it the hurry-up-and-wait before the show.

Lights, cameras … no rain

With just over an hour to go before the Hall of Fame induction ceremony begins, the threat of rain appears to have lessened. Good news for the Hall and fans alike.

The Associated Press reports that an estimated 6,500 fans showed up Friday to watch the Bengals’ first scrimmage of 2009. Carson Palmer, who injured his elbow last season and didn’t play after Oct. 5, was back under center for Cincinnati.

Vikings QB Jackson ‘fine’ after aggravating hurt knee

According to The Associated Press, Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson limped off the field during Friday night’s practice session. Jackson appeared to aggravate his sprained left knee, an injury that had kept him out of training camp for several days.

While more first-round draft picks have reached or are near finalizing contracts, the Bengals and No. 6 overall selection Andre Smith are locked in a staredown that could last several more weeks.

Last year at this time, Mike Haynes was just another member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame making it back here for the enshrinement weekend festivities. It’s always a big deal… but Haynes had no idea that last year’s visit would be a life-altering experience.
