The Vikings plan to keep all four QBs for a few weeks

In following up on the Brett Favre signing, I continue to hear that ultimately, barring an injury to someone else, Tarvaris Jackson is likely to be the odd-man out and the player the Vikings will shop as we get near the 53-man roster cutdown. All four quarterbacks will be on the roster and get some playing time over the next few weeks, according to sources, and having Jackson perform well in the preseason games would only enhance his trade value.
Favre is not going to get a huge workload Friday as the starter against Kansas City, and he is going to have to work himself back. The Vikings won’t move a QB right away, because they want to monitor Favre’s arm closely. Also, from a contractual standpoint, I’m hearing that $6 million of Favre’s $12 million salary in 2009 is guaranteed (and, obviously, as a vested veteran, if he’s on the roster Week 1, his entire salary is guaranteed).
