Mark Sanchez will get the start in the New York Jets’ second preseason game, but the rookie QB will be without a key veteran blocker.
Guard Alan Faneca will not play against the Ravens due to a broken finger, coach Rex Ryan confirmed Sunday. The injury kept Faneca out of the preseason opener and he had surgery to repair the middle finger on his left hand. Ryan said Faneca could play with a cast, “but we want to make sure it’s healed before we put him out there.”
While the timeline for Faneca’s return is uncertain, the Associated Press reported that Ryan said he expects Faneca to be ready for the start of the regular season.
