Around the League tonight on Total Access

What we’ll look at tonight’s topics we spin Around The League on NFL Network’s Total Access … and I’ll explain why never to leave one’s Ipod in the car.

Those close to Favre expect decision by Friday

The people closest to Brett Favre, as well as the Minnesota Vikings, expect the veteran QB to provide an answer as to whether he will return well before the July 30 deadline he recently offered. They expect he will reveal his decision by Friday.

Glad to be back

Good to be back at work after a week of vacation. Now it’s time to touch on a few topics that have been in the news while I was gone, and some of these I likely will be following up on this week on NFL Total Access.

Rice: Vikings should stick with the QBs they have

Jerry Rice sat down for a quick Q&A with the Minneapolis Star Tribune and sounded off on, of all things, Brett Favre. Rice, a fierce competitor in his own right, didn’t exactly sound enthusiastic about another Favre comeback.

Roundup: Vikings’ Allen says Favre drama ‘annoying’

Jared Allen, never one to bite his tongue, recently opened up to the Chicago Tribune about Brett Favre‘s flirtation with the Vikings. While Allen seems to be in favor of Favre joining his team, he made it clear that he’d like the retired quarterback to make his decision sooner rather than later.

Belichick’s fascination with ‘Wildcat’ could help Vick

Bill Belichick’s pride took a big hit last season when the Dolphins shredded the vaunted Patriots defense with the “Wildcat” offense. So, Belichick, the consummate student, has spent extensive time communicating with University of Florida coach Urban Meyer about the spread offense. Belichick also has worked with former Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden, who’s also enthralled with the scheme that Meyer’s Gators run so well.

Fantasy owners need to adjust on the fly in drafts

Making adjustments and last-minute decisions are a big part of having a successful fantasy football draft, according to Michael Fabiano.

Faulk hits hole-in-one in celebrity tournament

NFL Network’s Marshall Faulk hit a hole-in-one on the 17th hole in the American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament Friday.

Broncos should follow history and trade Marshall

If recent history serves as a window into the future, then the Broncos should trade WR Brandon Marshall in exchange for multiple draft picks.

Players, media have trust issues with McDaniels

Jay Cutler isn’t the only player who has developed trust issues with first-year Broncos coach Josh McDaniels. A few other players have privately expressed concern, and the media has joined the chorus in feeling that McDaniels has a problem with honesty.

Romo is popular in Lake Tahoe

Say what you want about Cowboys QB Tony Romo, but just don’t say he isn’t one popular dude.

Redskins select DE Jarmon in supplemental draft

The Redskins made the only selection of the 2009 NFL Supplemental Draft, taking Kentucky DE Jeremy Jarmon with the 19th pick in the third round. The Redskins forfeit their third-round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft for selecting Jarmon.

Roundup: Vikings coach Childress will wait on Favre

Brett Favre told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he’s eyeing July 30 as a deadline to tell the Vikings whether or not he’ll play for them this coming season.

Does Favre bring enough upside to Vikings?

It’s universally agreed that Brett Favre will improve the Vikings once he decides to become their starting quarterback. But there seems to be a shortage of hard evidence when attempting to quantify just how much better he will make the team upon his arrival.

Marino, original L.T. among players at celebrity tourney

Through some sort of good fortune, I drew the assignment of tracking down NFL players at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship. I bumped into a lot of current and former NFL players on arrival day.
