Heyward-Bey agrees to terms; Rams close in on Smith

No. 7 overall draft pick Darrius Heyward-Bey has agreed to terms on a five-year contract with the Raiders, according to his agent, Ben Dogra. The wide receiver hasn’t signed the contract but is expected to Friday when he reports to training camp in Napa, Calif. The Raiders started practice Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Rams and No. 2 overall pick Jason Smith are close to finalizing a deal, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Rams rookies and selected players reported to camp Thursday, and the team begins full workouts this weekend. Smith, from Baylor, primarily worked at right tackle during offseason drills, but he could be moved to left tackle in the preseason.
