The Chicago Tribune reports that Bears CB Charles Tillman will be out indefinitely because of a back injury.
Tillman recently underwent an arthroscopic surgical procedure to clean up a disc in his back. He is expected to miss most of the preseason, but according to the Tribune, the Bears expect Tillman to play in the final preseason game on Sept. 3.
Tillman also missed organized team activities while he recovered from shoulder surgery.
Tillman’s injury could create an opening for second-year CB Zack Bowman, who reportedly was impressive in OTAs. The Bears also expect CB Nathan Vasher to regain his All-Pro form after being nicked with injuries the past two seasons.
Other news and notes from around the Web on a Tuesday:
- The Ravens made the AFC Championship Game last season, but they need the offensive line and QB Joe Flacco to improve in order to make the Super Bowl.
- Has this been the worst decade in Cowboys history? Times certainly have changed since players were required to run the infamous “Landry Mile” during the Hall of Fame coach’s tenure.
- The Browns are looking for playmakers on defense.
