Tell Houshmandzadeh to avoid our fantasy rankings

Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh is having a world-class hissy fit after his ratings on Madden 10 were below his obviously lofty expectations. Houshmandzadeh was give a 91, which — in case you do not play the game — is pretty darn good. But Houshmandzadeh told ESPN Radio’s Colin Cowherd that he was boycotting the game until his ranking was adjusted. Good luck with all of that, T.J.
That Madden rating is a lot better than his NFL.com fantasy ranking, currently No. 16. That ranking probably insult him, too. But it’s pretty accurate. (Though former teammate Chad Ochocino should be higher than No. 17, but that’s a rant for another day.)
Houshmandzadeh has been a nice complimentary receiver in recent years, enjoying the rub of having Ochocinco on the other side of the ball. Yet Houshmandzadeh only reached double digits in touchdowns once in his career (12 in 2007). He’s never proven to be a game-breaker or fantasy football stud.
Don’t expect a big year in 2009, either.
Nate Burleson seems like a nice, young man. But he’s not No. 85. The Seahawks are also going to run the ball more under offensive coordinator Gregg Knapp. Houshmandzadeh looks like a huge risk this season. Next year, he will be begging the good people at EA sports to be a 91.
