Drew Rosenhaus tweets that Butler has signed

Agent Drew Rosenhaus sent out a Twitter feed this morning stating that cornerback Darius Butler has agreed to terms with the New England Patriots. Butler, the 41st pick out of Connecticut, has agreed on a four-year deal with the Patriots, according to Rosenhaus.

Butler’s deal continues a trend of teams being much more proactive in completing deals well before the start of training camp, with more second-round picks now joining the large group of thrird- through seventh-rounders already signed.

Only two first-round picks — quarterbacks Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez — have signed to this point.
