Fellow fantasy football fanatics and Cowboys fans alike, welcome to the Razorback.

No, this isn’t an advertisement for some new shaver from Gillette. It’s the Wildcat-inspired formation that could make Felix Jones a sleeper next season.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the Cowboys showed the first look of the Razorback at Friday’s organized team activities (OTA) workout. Jones, who ran a similar formation at Arkansas with former collegiate teammate Darren McFadden, appears to be the player most featured in the spot.

“Man, it was great,” Jones told the Morning News. “It brought back old memories. … It’s just the first day. I believe we can get a lot better at it. You’ll see a lot more of it, I’m hoping, when the time comes.”

The Cowboys used the Razorback four different times, one of which saw Jones get the ball on a sweep. On the other three plays, he was used as a decoy with Patrick Crayton also in the backfield. But according to owner Jerry Jones, this formation will be implemented to get Jones the football more often.

An explosive back with immense speed and play-making skills, Jones showed flashes of brilliance in his rookie season. He averaged an amazing 8.9 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns, one on a 60-yard run, before an injured toe cost him the final 10 games.

Now that he’s back to 100 percent, Jones should see 12-15 touches per game as the lightning-fast complement to the hard-nosed running of Marion Barber. Jones could even be the starter to open next season, much like Julius Jones was during his time in Dallas. That would leave Barber to serve in the “closer” role he had so much success in from 2006-2007.

Fantasy leaguers will want to keep close tabs on the Cowboys backfield in the weeks and months to come, especially as it pertains to Jones’ role in the Razorback. He could turn into a tremendous flex starter in his second season.
