Jets RB Leon Washington again was absent from practice Wednesday, but he was excused this time to be at his fiancee’s side for the birth of their baby boy, Noel.
Jets coach Rex Ryan praised Washington’s decision, according to the Newark Star-Ledger:
“I think Leon made a great decision because I missed my second kid (Seth) being born and it’s hard to get over that,” said Ryan. “Everytime it’s his birthday, my wife gives me a different look. And I was at an OTA, too. It was a stupid decision. It was probably my biggest regret in coaching. It was a great move by Leon.”
Washington had skipped the team’s voluntary practices over contract concerns, but he returned to the field Monday.
