Ravens QB Smith expanding his role

Ravens QB Troy Smith showed his versatility on Tuesday by lining up at receiver during practice. The Ravens are were short on receivers with Derrick Mason, Mark Clayton, Demetrius Williams and Yamon Figurs all missing from practice. Figurs has been sidelined with a foot injury.

Coach John Harbaugh was very clear that Smith’s position is quarterback and that he has established himself as an NFL caliber quarterback. But if he can expand his role to help the team win, well, that never hurts according to the second-year coach.

And hey, with the way Harbaugh juggled his running backs last year, don’t be surprised to see Smith in a variety of roles this season.
