NFL.com’s Steve Wyche confirmed through the NFL Players Association that Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin filed papers to fire agent Drew Rosenhaus on May 22.

By NFLPA rules, Boldin isn’t allowed to hire a new agent until five days after filing the papers.

Rosenhaus had this response on his Twitter page today: “Regarding Anquan Boldin, let me say I have great respect for him. I’m hopeful that we can work things out and he will return to the Rosenhaus Sports family in the near future. We are proud to continue to represent his brother D.J. Boldin (an undrafted free agent who signed with the Lions).”

Boldin, who has two years and $5.75 million left on his contract with the Cardinals, wants a new deal, and just last week, Rosenhaus said “we have put forth an offer” to the team. Rosenhaus also represents DT Darnell Dockett, another Cardinals player who wants a new contract.

Boldin, who also has expressed interest in being traded, helped the Cardinals reach the Super Bowl last season by catching 89 passes for 1,038 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns, despite missing four games because of injury. It was Boldin’s fourth 1,000-yard season in six years with the Cardinals, who drafted him out of Florida State in 2003.
