Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports that Colts offensive coordinator Tom Moore and offensive line coach Howard Mudd have filed retirement papers with the team.
The long-time Colts assistants decided to retire after the NFL recently changed its pension plan. Colts owner Jim Irsay spoke with the paper on Thursday:
- “We’ve made it through a number of transitions in the past and we’ll make it through this one,’’ Irsay said. “I’m very pleased with the direction we’re headed.’’
Moore, 70, and Mudd, 67, have been assistants in the NFL for more than 30 years. Moore is the only offensive coordinator that Colts QB Peyton Manning has ever worked with in Indianapolis.
