According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Eagles coach Andy Reid said in an interview with 610 WIP-AM that the team looked into acquiring Arizona WR Anquan Boldin before the draft. The Cardinals, however, wanted too much in return:
- Reid suggested the price might have been first-, third- and fifth-round draft picks.
“That’s a lot of picks, No. 1,” Reid said. “And then you’re going to pay the guy $10 million. So you get hit on both sides of it.”
After a deal couldn’t be struck, the Eagles executed a draft-day trade to move up the board and take WR Jeremy Maclin with the 19th pick in the first round.
