LenDale White came to Tennessee’s offseason workout program at 238 pounds, his lightest reporting weight as a member of the Titans.
But White’s slender physique certainly hasn’t cramped his confidence.
White has been outspoken in the past, and he bristled at the notion that rookie RB Javon Ringer — whom the Titans drafted in the fifth round — would cut into his playing time.
Here’s what White said, according to The City Paper in Nashville:
- “This is for everybody. I don’t care if I was on San Diego’s team, New England, any team, you can go get anybody. You can go get Emmitt Smith. You can go get anyone, I will never run from competition,” White said. “I never have and I never will. You can ask Reggie Bush [who White played with in college]. You can ask [teammate] Chris Johnson.
- “Y’all go get anyone in America. I will never run from no competition. I don’t care who it is. Barry Sanders, the great. Deion Sanders, ‘Primetime’ if I was a cornerback.”
White played at 260 pounds last season, when he rushed for 773 yards and 15 touchdowns. He would like to go into next season around 240 pounds.
