Bucs defensive coordinator Bates likes DE Taylor

According to the St. Petersburg Times, Buccaneers defensive coordinator Jim Bates says the team is open to adding a veteran lineman. Specifically, Tampa Bay could be interested in six-time Pro Bowler and free-agent DE Jason Taylor:
- “Jason is a great football player,” Bates said. “Last year, he fell off a little bit but he’s a young 34. Just a good, solid professional athlete. There’s been discussion. I don’t know where we’re going with it. You can talk to Mark (Dominik, the general manager) and everybody on it. We have some good football players. We’re looking for players out there and always trying to improve.”
Taylor spent the first 11 years of his career with the Dolphins before being traded to the Redskins in 2008. Bates was the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator from 2000 to 2004, so he knows Taylor well.
