It feels like just another day at the office in San Diego. Chargers front office personnel have been getting their work outs done in the weight room while those who weren’t running on the treadmill didn’t arrive until mid morning, including coach Norv Turner. He arrived around 10:30 a.m. PST.

There is some potential for trade activity at the front end of the draft. Where a move could be made is anyone’s guess, but it appears QB Mark Sanchez is the target that’s creating the stir. The Rams continue to say Sanchez is a possibility for them with the No. 2 pick, even though they have more pressing needs.

Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones gave NFL Network an exclusive tour of the team’s war room at Valley Ranch. During this tour, we got a chance to look at the Cowboys’ original draft notes on Emmitt Smith from the 1990 NFL Draft.

The Dallas Cowboys do not have a draft pick until well into the second round. While the team’s history on draft day would suggest otherwise, Cowboys executive Stephen Jones has told NFL Network that the team’s draft war room will be a quiet place on Saturday. The team is content with its place and intends to stay at No. 51.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have dug into their past for inspiration on this draft day. New Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik had the jerseys of former Tampa Bay draftees who went to multiple Pro Bowls hung in the war room at Buccaneers headquarters.

The Rams now hold the first pick of intrigue in the draft with the No. 2 overall pick. General manager Billy Devaney has received phone calls this morning about his team’s top pick, but did not mention any particulars.

You really have to applaud the Detroit Lions for going after the player that they really wanted in Matthew Stafford. The Lions were thinking that all the players at the top of this year’s draft board were pretty even, and figured that they were better off getting the player they really coveted.
