Servicemen take the spotlight on Radio City stage

Nothing gets the crowd revved up quite like NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell bringing a group of U.S. servicemen to the stage. Goodell said the moment is one of his favorite aspects of being at the draft and the audience clearly agrees.

As soon as the soldiers appeared on stage, the crowd began a boisterous chant of USA! USA! USA!

The patriotic chant went on for what seemed to be several minutes. New Redskins DE Brian Orakpo happened to be sitting with us here at our table when the soldiers walked onto the stage and he rose quickly to pay them his respect.

He commented about how much gratitude he has for members of our military and seemed truly touched by their presence. He figures to get plenty of exposure to them at his new home in the nation’s capital.

The normal draft proceedings resumed after the ovation finally dwindled after several minutes.
