Josh Freeman had to wait until the 17th pick before walking out of that Radio City green room, displaying the kind of patience and calm he’ll need as the Buccaneers’ quarterback of the future. Then he told the Tampa Bay media he’s prepared to prove that the Buccaneers made the correct long-term decision by trading up two spots to get him.
“I’d take me over them,” Freeman said of quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez, taken Nos. 1 and 5 respectively. “I feel like I’m the better QB, but they’re getting more of the hype. But I’ve got the rest of my career to prove that I’m the best guy.”
