Everybody has an opinion at the draft

In talking with dozens of fans here at Radio City Music Hall, there is no shortage of opinions on who they think their team should take.

One Lions fan from Grand Rapids — as was reflected later when Matthew Stafford was booed mercilessly upon his selection — said he preferred LB Aaron Curry.

A fan of the team holding the second pick, St. Louis, threw his support behind Jason Smith and was just rewarded when the Rams chose the big offensive tackle out of Baylor.

The Seahawks, owners of the No. 4 pick, are said to be looking at QB Mark Sanchez, but at least according to one of their ardent fans, they should take a long look at Curry.

In talking to fans of the Browns, holders of the fifth pick, they do not want WR Braylon Edwards dealt, but they do desperately want the team to acquire more picks and trade out of its spot at No. 5.

WR Michael Crabtree is the popular choice for Raiders fans at No. 7 and a trio of them have an extra reason for their support of Crabtree — he posed with them for pictures Friday at a New York hotel.

After pick seven, the draft appears so unpredictable that fans repeated their desires to see the team select someone, anyone, who can just come in and be a contributor.
