Chargers looking for impact player; RB unlikely

SAN DIEGO — It feels like just another day at the office in San Diego. Chargers front office personnel have been getting their work outs done in the weight room while those who weren’t running on the treadmill didn’t arrive until mid morning, including coach Norv Turner. He arrived around 10:30 a.m. PT.
The mellow mood might be the result of the Chargers only having one pick on Day 1 of the draft. General manager A.J. Smith is said to be considering trading down from the 16th overall pick but Turner said it’s not likely. If the Chargers stay put, Turner expects to draft an impact player — meaning someone who could come in and play right way. It also appears unlikely that the Chargers will use their first-round pick on either running backs Chris “Beanie” Wells or Knowshon Moreno.
