As we speak, eight members of the NFL Network team that will be broadcasting live from the draft this weekend are conducting a mock draft that will air Friday on NFL.com.
Each of them is responsible for four teams. NFL Total Access host Rich Eisen, representing the Detroit Lions, had the first pick — and you can see here how his choice had a ripple effect on the first four picks:
1. Lions (Eisen): Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest — Not picking Matthew Stafford threw everyone off.
2. St. Louis Rams (Marshall Faulk): Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia — Faulk felt tackle was best for the Rams.
3. Kansas City Chiefs (Jon Gruden): Jason Smith, OT, Baylor — Gruden’s first pick was an attempt to recreate the Chiefs’ legendary O-line of old. This helps get them there.
4. Seattle Seahawks (Steve Mariucci): Mark Sanchez, QB, USC — Mariucci tried to trade down, but ultimately went with Sanchez over Stafford.
Where will Stafford and other big-name prospects go in this mock? You can see the complete draft on nfl.com Friday.
