Panthers give Delhomme five-year extension

The Carolina Panthers have signed QB Jake Delhomme to a five-year, $42.5 million contract extension with $20 million guaranteed.

The extension likely ensures that the 11-year NFL veteran will finish his career with the Panthers, and it provides the team with some much-needed salary-cap relief because of the structuring of the deal.
