Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said there’s a good chance that the team will sign the No. 1 overall pick before the draft starts Saturday, according to the Detroit Free Press:
- “That was our plan,” Mayhew said. “We talked about that back at the combine. That’s very important, and we plan on getting something done prior to making that selection.”
Who that selection will be is anybody’s guess. Lions fans voiced their opinion yesterday, chanting Wake Forest LB Aaron Curry‘s name during the unveiling of the team’s new logo. However, all of our NFL.com experts agree that the Lions will take Georgia QB Matthew Stafford with the No. 1 overall selection.
