The Lions are closing in on their first overall selection in this weekend’s draft, be it QB Matthew Stafford, OT Jason Smith or LB Aaron Curry. But while the team isn’t indicating which way it may or may not be leaning, fans gathered for the team’s new logo unveiling voiced their choice for the No.1 overall pick and it was overwhelmingly in favor of the linebacker out of Wake Forest.

Fans chanted Curry’s name before Lions president Tom Lewand unveiled the team’s new logo. Lewand, of course, tried to play it cool, saying that he is going to pretend that they were chanting, “Barry, Barry,” according to the Detroit Free Press.

Lewand continued to show a strong sense of humor when he gathered a group of children up on the stage.

“I want to thank you guys in particular,” Lewand said to the children, “because ever since you guys have been born, we haven’t been very good.
“But we’re going to change that for you guys. Having young fans like you guys, it makes me excited. We’re going to give you guys a football team you can be proud of, and I appreciate you guys coming out today, even though you shouldn’t be skipping school.”
