Agents for LB prospect Curry meet with Lions

One of the more interesting prospects in this year’s draft is Aaron Curry. NFL Network’s Mike Mayock long had the Wake Forest linebacker listed as his No. 1 player in the 2009 class but dropped Curry to seventh in his latest top 20 list.
Draft projections have Curry going anywhere from the top pick all the way to No. 10 (where Charley Casserly has Curry in his latest mock draft).
Well, if Saturday’s events are any indication, Curry still might be in the running for that No. 1 spot.
Curry’s agents, Andy Ross and Mike Sullivan, were seen at a Lions minicamp practice today. The Detroit Free Press was on the scene and got a quote from Lions general manager Martin Mayhew:
- As he walked off the field, general manager Martin Mayhew confirmed the agents were Andy Ross and Michael Sullivan. Asked what it meant, Mayhew said: “It means we’re talking to them, which we said we would do.”
NFL.com reached Ross by phone, and the agent said he had “no comment” on how the talk went. Sullivan didn’t return a phone message left by NFL.com.
Most draft prognosticators believe the Lions will select Georgia QB Matthew Stafford with the No. 1 overall pick next weekend.
