Saints WR Lance Moore underwent surgery Monday to repair his injured left shoulder, coach Sean Payton confirmed to the Times-Picayune on Thursday.
Noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery on Moore, who was injured while lifting weights during an offseason workout, according to the newspaper:
- Payton text-mailed confirmation of Moore’s injury to The Times-Picayune this afternoon.
- “Yes … Andrews on Monday … left shoulder … Miss minicamp … ready for training camp.”
The Saints tendered a one-year, $1.545 million offer to Moore, who is a restricted free agent. Teams have until 10:59 p.m. Friday to sign Moore to an offer sheet that New Orleans would have a chance to match.
The Saints would receive a second-round draft pick if Moore signs with another team and they don’t match. If no team offers a deal to Moore, he will return to New Orleans under the terms of the one-year tender.
