Titans claim Redskins tampered with Haynesworth

If you thought DT Albert Haynesworth agreeing to a seven-year, $100 million contract with the Redskins just hours into free agency was suspicious, then you’re not alone.

The Tennessean reports that the Titans recently submitted evidence to the NFL of tampering, claiming the Redskins contacted Haynesworth before he became a free agent on Feb. 27:

The Titans did not file a formal grievance with the NFL. Instead, they turned in newspaper articles and audio from a Washington, D.C.-area radio station in which a Redskins official made what the Titans felt were incriminating comments.

The Tennessean notes that players and agents are not subject to punishment if found guilty of any involvement in tampering. However, teams found guilty of tampering have been forced to relinquish draft picks.
