Warner expected to visit 49ers on Monday

With no deal in place with the Arizona Cardinals, QB Kurt Warner is apparently ready to shop his services elsewhere. First stop: San Francisco. Warner, who led the Cardinals to Super Bowl XLIII, will visit the 49ers on Monday, the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported.

Broncos give ex-Dolphins CB Goodman five-year deal

The Denver Broncos and free-agent CB Andre’ Goodman agreed Sunday night to a five-year, $25 million contract that includes over $10 million in guaranteed money.

The Steelers would like to re-sign McFadden, but former Pittsburgh assistant coaches Ken Whisenhunt (now Arizona’s head coach) and Russ Grimm (now an Arizona assistant) will try to convince McFadden to follow the same path they did.

RB Arrington’s deal with Broncos hits snag

J.J. Arrington might not be joining the Denver Broncos after all. Arrington, a free-agent RB who has spent his entire four-year NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals, agreed to a four-year deal with the Broncos on Friday. But the Denver Post reported that there were questions about details of the contract.

Houshmandzadeh still visiting Vikings; decision near?

Free-agent WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who has already visited the Seattle Seahawks and is currently talking with the Minnesota Vikings, told Bengals.com that he anticipated picking a team Sunday night. But Houshmandzadeh’s agent, Kennard McGuire, said a decision wouldn’t be made Sunday, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

As was first reported by NFL Network’s Adam Schefter, Broncos Pro Bowl QB Jay Cutler was none too pleased about being mentioned in trade talk regarding Patriots QB Matt Cassel, who ended up being dealt along with LB Mike Vrabel to the Chiefs for a second-round pick.

Patriots’ trade with Chiefs is a money-saver

For the past 24 hours, it has been pointed out that trading QB Matt Cassel to the Kansas City Chiefs freed up $14.65 million against the New England Patriots’ salary cap.

But LB Mike Vrabel was also included in the deal, and trading him freed up another $3.35 million against the cap.

So with one trade, the Patriots saved a whopping $18 million that they can now use on other players

Texans find backup QB in ex-Lion Orlovsky

After trading Sage Rosenfels to the Minnesota Vikings on Friday, the Houston Texans needed a backup quarterback. They got one on Sunday, signing former Lions QB Dan Orlovsky, who arrived in Houston on Saturday and signed on Sunday.

Buccaneers reach agreement with Clayton

With Tampa Bay needing to use up some of its salary-cap space, the Buccaneers and WR Michael Clayton reached agreement on a five-year, $24 million deal that includes $10.5 million worth of guaranteed money.
